Do things ever change? Do we ever know if they will change for the better or for the worse? However, we can be sure of one thing that will never change!

There is one thing that will never change: man’s capability to take on responsibility to improve himself and others.

I would like everyone to take Prot’s words seriously. Towards the end of the movie K-PAX, he gives us some advice. It is the disinterested advice of a man deemed to be “mad”, but he is not that “mad” after all…

“The universe will expand, then it will collapse back on itself, and then it will expand again. It will repeat this process forever. What you don’t know is that when the universe expands again, everything will be as it is now. Whatever mistakes you make this time around, you will live through on your next pass. Every mistake you make…you will live through…again and again, forever. So my advice to you is to get it right this time around because this time is all you have”.

Thus, Mark decides to see his son that he has not seen for a long time, and  address the error of conflict and act to change the way things are.
The biggest risk we are living is that of immobility.
You don’t make that phone call because you don’t know…
You don’t start a project because you don’t know
You postpone a decision out of fear of…

Therefore, what has changed from yesterday to today? Nothing.

The only certainty is that you have to take the reins of your life into your hands, lift your head up and look forward. You have to do it for yourself, and for the people around you. Everyone has the responsibility to guide themselves if there is nobody around to do it for them.

Because “when the universe expands, it will collapse back on itself”, and the only strength we can count on is knowing that we have made the right choices in the present, the only moment that counts.
