If you had the same power as the Lakes, how would you use it?

Would you go back in time to correct your mistakes, or to improve your schooling, to learn more than one language, or something else?

The scene launches us a question: Are we using our life well?

The Lakes have the magical power to travel through time and endlessly repeat their lives. I put myself in the Tim’s shoes when his father asks, “Any first thoughts? (…) You have to use it for things that you really think will make your life the way you want it to be“. So I said to myself: let’s pretend that I have to answer. And here’s what I said:

  • I would spend more time with my father;
  • I would let go of “resentment” and “anger” for things that have no importance for me today
  • I would read all the books available and take part in seminars all over the world
  • I would watch all the  films that I haven’t seen
  • I would travel for the pure pleasure of discovering new things
  • I would go back at least a dozen times to the exact moment in which my daughter was born
  • I would laugh out loud with my friends

And if you had to answer this question? How would you use this gift?

Take a few minutes to understand if you are using your life in the right way. I found myself once again shedding light on the values that guide my choices, thanks to a friend who recommended that I watch this movie. For a long time the recommendations of friends, students and clients have become my source for finding interesting scenes. Not a day goes by when I do not receive a text message, an email or a phone call with an invitation to see this or that film, to appreciate its profoundness and usefulness.

Thank you to all of you !! The database of “Training with Movies” grows as the evolution of a collective consciousness. I did not know the film “About Time“, it was suggested to me by a friend. He told me that I would have found loads of ideas, and I did.

In the story, there are a lot of exciting moments. Towards the end, Tim (the son) says that he has learnt his last lesson of his time travels. If there was a person with these powers, if any of us could re-live the same time a hundred times, maybe we would give the same advice and it would sound more or less like this:

The truth is, I now don’t travel back at all. Not even for the day. I just try to live every day as if I’ve deliberately  come back to this one day to enjoy it as if it was the full final day of my extraordinary, ordinary life. (…) We’re all travelling through time together every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish this remarkable ride”.

For me, all the suffering and the efforts we are making in this life will lead us there in the end, or to think that “we already have everything and we are already everything.” Daniela, a friend of mine has on her profile has this phrase of Ed Sheeran “Everything will be okay in the end. And if it is not okay, then it means that it is not the end”
